We start with a walk through the Garrotxa Volcanoes Natural Park, to discover the Croscat volcano, which last erupted 11,000 years ago. The tour is made up of a very relaxing walk with minimum unevenness, which has a magnificent surprise in store for us, because the volcano’s chimney is completely outdoors, and allows us to see what a volcano looks like from the inside. The scenery is lovely and the walking distance can easily be adapted to cater to anyone’s capacities.
Santa Pau is a very beautiful and charming town, in the heart of the La Garrotxa Volcanoes Natural Park.
The village was founded in the 13th-century and its castle is located on an elevated area next to the 15th-century church.
We stroll down the narrow streets that surround the castle area, enter the church, and enjoy one of the most typical squares in Catalonia. In this square, we enjoy the many treats the typical local cuisine has to offer.
The Santa Pau main square, an incomparable setting, is a place that has maintained the essence of the old taverns of the town that use local products exclusively. These features are only some of the reasons that make the restaurants located here an ideal place to pamper your palate with our rich gastronomy.
“”La Fageda”” is a very charming and famous beech forest in the area of Girona, in the heart of the Garrotxa Volcanoes Natural Park, located one hour drive from the city of Girona.
The forest is well known for the staggering height of the trees, caused by the quality of the minerals in the volcanic soil.
We enjoy a walk through the famous beech forest of “”La Fageda de’n Jordà”” and unveil the secrets hidden deep in the forest while we get wrapped up in the magic and mysticism of the plantation, which is still divided into dry stone walls.
